Fabric and materials recommendations
We recommend a light- to medium-weight woven fabric that has no stretch. The drape or hand of the fabric will impact the look of the final garment – softer fabrics will fall more gently, and more stable fabrics like linen and cotton will emphasize the sleeve and collar shaping. Some wonderful choices are chambray, viscose-linen slub, sand-washed linen or cotton, cotton ikat, or even silk noil.
* The sleeve is too wide for a folded cutting layout with 45″-wide fabric. If you have a 45”-wide fabric that you really want to make work, you’ll need 3.25 yd for View A and 4.5 yds for View B.
Other Materials
1.5 yd (1.4 m) of lightweight fusible interfacing, either woven or non-woven. (An average width of interfacing is 20” (0.5 m).)
Buttons, 1/2” (1.3 cm) in diameter. 4 or 5 buttons for View A, 8 to 10 buttons for View B.
