The New Stasia

Our favorite, tried and true, throw-on-and-feel-great even in the most rushed morning, pattern is back and even better.

The Stasia Dress and Tee pattern now includes our full size range, fitting up to a size 34

With the same subtle V in the front, fitted bodice, and flowing skirt, Stasia just has a little something extra, feels a little more special than your average knit dress. Whether you’re going for a playful skater dress, or a sultry maxi dress, Stasia will help your find your confidence, from sewing with knits to wearing them.

This new update to our Stasia pattern goes deeper than just a new, inclusive size range. We improved the overall fit, based on feedback collected over time, including adding an option to sew a higher back neckline, and a better fit for all sizes in the shoulders and arms.

We simplified the skirt length options a little, to smooth your journey through the instructions. You can choose between above-the-knee and long midi skirts. (This let us simplify pattern piece printing as well. Now print just a single pattern sheet per size.) Easily lengthen or shorten the skirt to your liking and style.

And we gave the sleeves a little love. In the pattern as originally released, you could have short or 3/4 length sleeves. Well, add long sleeves to that list!

We’ve also made a full video sew-along, to help you tackle knits and make your perfect Stasia dress, no matter which view you choose. Follow along, and learn about finishing seams, sewing with a stretch stitch, and hemming knits.

Whether you love sewing knits or have never tried it before, Stasia is fun, quick sew, that can slide easily into any closet. A tee, a tank, or a dress, with short, long, or 3/4 length sleeves, and skirt that can be made knee length to maxi, there is a Stasia to suit every style.

We recommend knits with at least 40% stretch and quick recovery. For a flowy, soft dress or shirt, choose a fabric with rayon or bamboo content, in addition to spandex. For a more structured dress (and if you choose to add pockets) look for a mid-to-heavy weight fabric with at least 40% stretch and good recovery such as French terry, cotton jersey or ponte.

We are looking forward to more people being able to enjoy making and wearing a Stasia Dress or Tee. Please share your creation! #StasiaDress #SewLiberated

  1. If we previously purchased Stasia, do we get a copy of the updated version? It wasn’t quite large enough, but I bought it anyway, and intended to grade it up – but life intervened and I still haven’t gotten around to that task. Now it will be unnecessary, since the updated version has a full size range!

  2. Hi. I also previously purchased the original Stasia pattern (like so many before me), but have not made it yet. I’m curious, will there be addendums to the original pattern available for purchase to be able to use the improvements (that are not related to the new sizes)? Thanks!

  3. I love this dress, but before buying the pattern I’d like to know if there are different cup options in the size range?

    1. Each block is drafted for a c-cup, which in this case means 3" difference in high and full bust. Because this pattern has a good bit of negative ease if fits a wide range of cup sizes. If you’d like to do a full bust or small bust adjustment, that is also an option. And please email us at support@sewliberated.com for more fitting questions. We are happy to help you find your perfect fit.

  4. Hello! I have just purchased a paper copy of apparently the original version. Shoot! My store must have had some backstock. Is it possible to get the updated notes as well? Thanks so much for any assistance. I’m excited to add this to my SL inventory.

  5. I just made my first Stasia last week and it will not be my last–it’s definitely the knit dress pattern of my dreams! ♥️
Can you recommend a resource for alterations, or will the directions in the Hinterland Fitting Guide work on knits? I know I need to do a narrow shoulder adjustment. . .
    Thank you!!
